To mitigate the spread of the coronavirus disease COVID-19, the Helsinki International Ballet Competition has been postponed to a later date. The ninth competition to date had been scheduled to take place from 1 to 8 June 2020 at the Finnish National Opera and Ballet. The competition program consists of both classical and modern repertoire. In Round I all competitors present classical variations and in Round II a contemporary piece. In the final round (Round III) competitors will perform both classical variations and modern dance. HIBC 2020 has two divisions: junior division (age 15 to 19) and senior division (age 20 to 25). The competition is open to dancers of all nationalities.
