Eighty-one dancers from 15 countries have been selected to compete in the 10th Helsinki International Ballet Competition, which will take place at the Finnish National Opera from May 27 to June 5, 2026.
The competition received 230 applications from 36 different countries, and the selection panel had the challenging task of choosing the participants from among many talented applicants.
“The competition has attracted interest from around the world, and we are pleased with the record number of applicants and the geographical diversity. It is an important opportunity for young dancers to develop and build professional networks. There is also plenty for audiences to enjoy during the week, both on stage and through related events,“ says Hannele Niiranen-Mattsson, chair of the Helsinki International Ballet Competition Association.
