The Helsinki International Ballet Competition 2022 will take place at the Finnish National Opera and Ballet, in Helsinki, from 30 May to 6 June 2022. The gala performance and awards ceremony will take place on Monday 6 June 2022. See the full schedule.

The competition has two categories: junior category, aged 15 to 19 when the competition begins on 30 May 2022, and senior category, aged 20 to 25 when the competition begins on 30 May 2022. The competition is open to dancers of all nationalities.

The program consists of both classical and modern repertoire. See the rules of the competition.

We provide competitors hotel accommodation (in twin/double rooms) close to the competition venue, as well as daily training classes.

The safety of the competitors is important to us. Regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, we are closely monitoring the official recommendations and instructions by the local authorities. Online registration

The online application for HIBC 2022 is open from 1 November 2021 to 20 March 2022.

Applicants for the competition are required to fill out the online application form, submit all the required documents, including a video recording for the pre-selection, and pay the registration fee of EUR 100 before the registration deadline.

The selection will be primarily conducted by video auditioning.

Selected participants will be nominated by 31 March 2022.
